A Legacy of POWERING

THE STORY OF INTEGRATED ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS

When Thomas Edison flipped the switch at Pearl Street Station, launching the nation’s first central power plant, this groundbreaking moment received little attention in the local New York Times. Yet, from that day forward, the ability to harness and deliver POWER has been a driving force behind societal progress.

At Integrated Electrical Systems (IES), we stand at the forefront of this progress. As a leading provider of electrical, infrastructure, mechanical, and communications systems, our work is foundational to every home, business, and industry. It touches every facet of modern life—where we live, work, shop, and play. We POWER Progress by energizing the projects of some of the world’s most recognized brands and critical enterprises.

IES Electrical, a subsidiary of IES Holdings, Inc. (IES-CO.com; Nasdaq: IESC), is part of one of the largest electrical and communications contracting companies in the United States.

Pearl Street Station: Manhattan, NY

The story of electrical systems and power delivery in the U.S. begins at Pearl Street. Thomas Edison strategically selected Wall Street’s First District, a densely populated area with a mix of commercial and residential spaces, as the ideal location for his vision. Starting with just 59 customers, Pearl Street Station became the foundation of modern electrical distribution. It was here that Edison established the essential principles for the systems that now power our nation—a legacy that continues to shape the way we live and work today.
